La Bamba was a Latin and African folk and wedding song, with varying lyrics. The song was recorded in 1939 by El Jarocho. A 1947 movie, Fiesta, featured the song. In 1959, Ritchie Valens made the song a top 20 hit. Many others covered the song, including Los Lobos, whose number one version was a movie title song. Weird Al Yankovic did a spoof called Lasagna.
