Donny Hathaway was a soul and blues singer and writer. While Donny Hathaway had a string of social songs in the early 70s, he became best known for introducing the Nadine McKennor and Donny Pitts song, This Christmas.
Bigger success came later with a string of duets including his only number one song The Closer I Get To You, with Roberta Flack.
Donny Hathaway lived from 1945 to 1979 when he apparently committed suicide.
