The Trashmen was a surf and punk band. The Trashmen made the top 20 in 1964 with Surfin' Bird, a one hit wonder. This song was built upon the 1962 song Papa Oom Mow Mow by The Rivingtons, and was a two-sided single with King Of The Surf on the back. The follow up, Bird Dance Beat, was a top 20 near miss.
