In 1962, The Rivingtons squeaked into the top 20 with the one hit wonder Papa Oom Mow Mow. The next year, The Rivingtons released a song called The Bird's The Word. The Trashmen put these two songs together, sped them up, and came up with its own one hit wonder, Surfin' Bird, in 1964. From there, many artists remade the revamped song, and it became a punk music favorite.
